She was reading his message drinking her coffee and all of a sudden she laughed, spitting coffee accidentally on my shirt.
‘Thanks for that’ I said jokingly. Something funny?’
‘Oh my god!’ She said smiling ‘you’ll never guess what Leon has just suggested… I’m not even sure I should tell you. You might be pissed off.’
‘What is it?’ I said. Knowing that whatever it was I was going to have to encourage it.
‘He’s suggested I should go out for a dinner date with him this Friday night!’ She laughed ‘he knows I’ve got a boyfriend.’
‘Maybe he just wants to go as friends?’ I said, trying not to sound disingenuous. ‘He must like you. Ask what he means by a dinner date.’
I watched her typing away. He must have messaged back straight away.
‘Aww he says he just wants to reward me for working so hard by wining and ding me.’ She said ‘he’s so sweet.’
‘See’ I said ‘he’s just being nice. You should take him up on it.’
Hannah’s face contorted into a blend of joy, confusion, and surprise.
‘What? You mean you’re ok with me going on a date with him?’ She acted like she was waiting for me to make a joke.
‘Yeah’ I said ‘it’s just dinner, as a reward for your hard work. He must be proud of how much effort you’ve put it.’
Hannah smirked. ‘Errr OK… well it would be nice. I haven’t been on a date in years.’ She giggled. ‘I haven’t got anything to wear. It’s been so long since I’ve dressed up.’
‘I’ll pay for you to get yourself a new outfit’ I said ‘you deserve it.’ I smiled
‘Wow ok I’ll message him now if you’re absolutely sure? Once I confirm there’s no going back?’ She raised her eyebrows in expectation.
‘I’m fine with it. You’ll have fun.’
She grinned with excitement ‘I’ll message him now then.’ She got up and put her coat on ‘I need to go to leave for work… see you later’
she walked out. I sat at the table wondering what was going to happen. As I was heading out the door I got a message through from Leon.
‘Hannah says she’s looking forward to me taking her out on Friday. She couldn’t believe you agreed to it ????.’
‘Thanks’ I messaged back ‘I hope my encouragement helped.’
Leon was typing a response. I waited in my car for the message to land before driving off.
‘Oh your not done helping yet…. Hannah said you offered to pay for an outfit for date night…. You’re going to make sure it’s as slutty as possible… And you’re going to get her some nice lingerie for the date… aren’t you?’
