After insulting Jay like that, he gave me the silent treatment for the next couple of days. I can understand why he’d be pissed. I was defending his former bully from him. Not cool. Yet, he must have come around, because he broke the silence by telling me he was going to hang out with Dom. I was actually pretty impressed that he was willing to let the past be the past.
Apparently he had a great time because they hung out twice more that week, including sitting in a suite at a Bulls game with Don’s boss. He told me Dom was different now, and they really had been good friends at one point. He was happy.
So was Sarah. She and Dom were getting serious quickly. She’s always been one to kiss and tell, but she was even more detailed then usual, and it felt like she was up to something. She’d say something like “Meg, he has the perfect fucking cock,” and then she’d stare at me to see my reaction. She did the same thing when she said, “He really knows how to use it,” and later, “He makes other males seem like little boys, Meg,” probably a reference to Jay. She was pissing me off. I’m used to Sarah saying whatever comes to mind, and slighting Jay any chance she can get, but she never tried to make me jealous before. And the worst part is that it was working. I couldn’t help but imagine myself with Dom, and I definitely got more than moist when thinking about it.
So I had mixed feelings when Sarah invited us over for another party. On the one hand, I didn’t want to get even more jealous by seeing her and Dom all over each other. On the other hand, I just wanted to be in his presence again. I was pissed enough at Sarah, that I told her I wasn’t sure if we’d be there.
Imagine my surprise when Jay said, unprovoked, “I’m looking forward to Sarah’s party!” This was a once in a lifetime occurrence, and I knew I had to go.
So we did. I got gussied up more than usual. Jay said I looked sexy. That was nice to hear. If only it was him I was trying to impress.
