I walked into the kitchen and Katie was already up, showered and drinking coffee.

So we got dressed and headed out for a full day of time together.
Throughout the day I would catch Katie and glancing at her phone and smiling or sending a short text. I think she felt my looks and could sense I wasn’t my normal self because she would just put her phone away and pretend nothing was going on and ask what should we do next or bring something random up. Finally I asked Katie “so have you heard from Dan since last night?”. She gave me a knowing look and said “of course”. I took her phone as she walked off with the host at this wedding venue we were checking out on the outside of the city. The morning went by and I only saw Dan go in and out of his office a couple of times but didn’t have any interactions that morning until lunch. During lunch me and Dan and Brian usually ate together in the break room or would go down to a diner down the street. I was the last one into the break room for lunch and Dan and Brad were already sitting down at a table.
I heated up some leftovers I had brought in and set down at the table with Dan and Brad and asked Dan “so are you feeling better after Friday night?” Dan looked at me confused “what do you mean Jake?”. “Oh I was just wondering if you were still getting any headaches” I replied as I started eating my food nonchalantly. That night Katie asked if I noticed anything different at work or if I thought Dan had told anyone else. I hadn’t really even thought of the possibility of Dan telling anyone else. Why would he ruin such a good thing? I said no except him making a couple of comments about how much fun Friday night was and that we needed to do it again. Katie said she agreed and gave me an evil grin. After a minute of silence she asked me if I was still ok with all of this? She said she didn’t want to continue this if I didn’t want to. She said she was running down to the gas station to get an energy drink for the next morning and gave me a wink as she walked out the door. Our apartment was only 4 floors and I could easily see the street level from our bedroom window. She walked across the parking lot to the back side where it was darker and got in a dark SUV that I recognized as Dans. I sat there and waited, imagining what they were doing.
