My ex and I first broke up about 1.5 years ago, got back together (we were exclusive but not technically in a relationship, it was complicated) about 7 months later, then broke up again for real in January. However, even since then we've stayed friends, talking on the phone every one or two weeks, texting each other now and then, etc.
